5:16 am - just focus on IB

likeawind24

and you'll go to a great university? I'm very skeptic about that.
Will you have to take other exams such as AP, SAT, SAT II etc.?

10:42 pm - Does UMF take IB credits?

abbigail_cross
Abbi, again.

I'm being geeky. I'm looking at potential colleges, UCLA, and UMF. UCLA, I know takes IB credits. I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me if UMF took them, too. I've looked at the site, and I'm not sure. I want to go there, but what would be the point of IB, if the credits aren't usable?

Both schools have my (well, my would be) major, Creative Writing. Also, what would be a minor to go with the major?

5:17 pm - IB or AP? Or both?

abbigail_cross
Uhm, hi. I'm Abbi.

I'm applying for IB, for my Freshman year (this Fall). I've seen, and liked the benefits of IB. But I've also liked AP's benefits. I'm no stranger to hard work, but is it harder to do both, than to just pick one?

What are some of the combined benefits they have? Heck, is it even possible to do both programs? Are they both worth it, in the end? How many hours are we talking of homework?

Is it a good idea to do both programs, and try to combine that with ROTC?

I'm pysced to be able to do IB, and to just be going to high school in general.

I checked out IB's site, and it confused me. So, I came here looking for info. Hope it'll help me!

Thanks everyone!

To all the IB2s in the world, getting ready for their exams and all, I'd like to wish GOOD LUCK and may the Force be with you.

For the Physics people, good luck for tomorrow.

(Don't ask why but I am feeling strangely positive lately. It will probably go away once I start taking paper after paper. O_o)

Im a Pre-IB sophomore and am seriously considering getting out of the program. I would really appreciate it if any of you could tell me the truth about it all. Was it worth it? How much did it really help you getting into good schools? What can I expect?

I see that a lot of the seniors (who are the first graduating class of my school) are going to in-state schools, such as UF and FSU, and I feel that I could easily get into those schools without IB, so I don't see the point in doing all that work and putting myself through all that stress just to stay in-state.
Please, be completely honest.

Thanks.

1:10 pm - Psychology

fifiwoofwoof
Does anyone have any past papers in Psychology HL they could scan up for me? I really don't have enough to study properly (In regard to my teacher having them, he was too lazy to create a booklet to borrow from the library, and so all I've got is the few he's handed out..like three max.)

Thanks!!

2:55 pm - Math Studies Project

sleepingwgods
Hi everyone! I just found this community ~ *waves* ~ and I'm posting because I need people to answer a questionnaire for my math project... The subject is anime (japanese cartoons), and you can answer this poll whether you watch anime or not. It's very simple, anonymous, and of course I won't publish the URL on the project report...
If you could please take a couple of minutes and check a few boxes, I'd be extremely grateful.

HERE BE THE QUESTIONNAIRE OF DOOM

Thanks in advance!! :D

I was wondering about student organisations for the IB students, by the IB students, in other countries besides Finland. I've heard there used to be one in Sweden, but I believe that has died years ago.
Finnish International Baccalaureate Society looks after student rights and organizes events. The board members are ib students, and yes, get service from it :P

8:54 am - IB versus A Levels

clubhopper15
Hey everyone! Was wondering if you guys could help me out.. At the moment I am at a British system school taking O Levels in May next year. I am considering doing IB after O Levels, which would require me moving to a different school in my city. Can you guys give me your honest opinion of IB in relation to applying to American Universities?? I plan on going to Stanford and I feel that doing IB rather than A levels will increase my chance of getting in.

11:57 pm - HL Art Scores

ryn_chan
Wondering how everyone did on HL Art.
We had a substitute all year, and only three people at my school tested.
Two of us did really well, we haven't heard from the third.
I'm wondering if this was just a really good year.
Any ideas?

Hey everyone! I'm a soon-to-be senior enrolled in the IB Diploma program.

If anyone here has taken the IB HL French language test, could you share your experience/scores/whatever?

Thanks!

If any of you took IB Photography HL, can you let me know your scores for the course and what you thought you deserved/expected?

I'm trying to see what a 6-7 should consist of in accordance to my work.

Thanks :-)

4:46 pm - IB intstructor = </3

militantmonkey
Hello everyone! My name is Jessica and I'm currently in the IB program (grade 11). Here's my problem:

My IB instructor never talked to the grade 11 IB students about the Extended Essay up until last week. Now, she expects us to have a topic by this Friday (march 24). I know I should have been thinking about this over the course of the year but with the lack of information on it, as well as the topics, I didn't really have a choice but not to think about it. Half (if not all) the IB juniors are pretty much confused and bewildered on what their topic will be (since we've all been busy with all our other subjects and research essays and such)

So, here's where I need your help. Can anyone give me some general topics I could do? Maybe a few examples of some you did/ are doing? I'm thinking of writing on the topic of physics but I'm not sure if I can handle the 100 hours of writing+labs over the next year (since I'm planning to be a yearbook editor next year and will probably have no time at all to balance yearbook with the EE). I've also thought about doing an essay on the topic of psychology but since I lack knowledge on psychology, I have no idea what to talk about. I'm actually thinking to do a paper on comic books that has something to do with psychology. Maybe the affect on comic books and society? I have no idea.

As you can see, I'm completely in the dark and if anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated!

4:40 pm - Parenthetical Documentation

nice_letters
Ahh, my wonderful English teacher has confused me once again.

How do you correctly cite a specific page number? Should it be (Author page# ln#) or (author ln#) or something similar?

When I asked my teacher, she responded vaguely and kind of trailed off...ugh.

Help? Please? Thanks. =)

10:34 am - Revised IB English syllabus?

thehighbrow
Hi,

Does anybody know if there is a revised syllabus for IB English (covering the May 2006 examinations)? The one that I have was distributed in 1999 and therefore covers examinations from 2001 to 2005. Since IB syllabi are revised every five years, there should theoretically be a new syllabus for English, but I've searched around and have found nothing.
